March 23 2015 -Water main break at Salty Lane. Water main shutoff for repairs. Service should be restored around 4:30PM. We recommend that you flush your water at an outside spigot for 3-5 minutes before using any water inside.
Backflow Prevention: Per WAC-246-290-490, you are required to install a backflow prevention device if you have a sprinkler system, pool, spa, pond, water treatment system, boiler, fire sprinklers, or other cross-connection risk. Always know where your water meter shutoff valve is located so you can quickly shut off your water if your pipes break due to freezing weather. Take precautions to winterize your home if you are leaving town. If you need help locating your water meter shutoff valve, please call the office. We can shutoff your water for you - there is a service charge. Remember that each member must pay for all water used - including leaks that occur on your side of the water meter.

Summertime is water conservation time! :
Please conserve water this summer - especially if you have sprinklers or landscape watering, try to reduce your outdoor water use by 25% vs last year. Your water bill will be a lot less and your plants will be just as healthy.
Watering at night helps to reduce water waste due to evaporation. Washington State requires that we adopt water conservation measures.

Quarterly Billing of Membership Fees begins Jan 1 2014:
Your quarterly invoice includes a water bill for the prior 3 months AND the Membership Dues & Fees for the upcoming 3 months. Note: you can also pay your entire year's dues & fees up-front if you wish. Call the office if you have any questions. North Del Mar Drive Repaving:
In 2011, the membership voted to approve a two-year Assessment to pay for recreational improvements, including the repaving of North Del Mar Drive. Road prep work starting 10/17/13, road closed for paving 10/22/13 - 10/24/13.
As an informational notice: A group of homeowners in the Lake Chiquita area are commencing a project on October 7th, 2013 to move the existing power and overhead utilities underground. There will be some impact to traffic during the project. This is not a Del Mar Community Service Inc project. The homeowners are paying all costs and are responsible for all aspects of this project.

North Del Mar Drive Galvanized Pipe Replacement
As of 4/12/2013, all work is completed and the old corroded galvanized pipe has been replaced with new HDPE pipe.

WSRB Fire Protection Class Upgrade
The Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau (WSRB) has recently completed an evaluation of our system and has upgraded our Fire Protection Class. This is excellent news, and could result in reduced insurance premiums for Del Mar homeowners. The letters detailing the results of their evaluation and the new ratings are available for download under the 'Forms/Docs' tab in the Legal and Regulatory section.
Del Mar Non-emergency Communication Policy: For non-emergency issues, if a Del Mar member has a request, complaint, proposal or other issue for Board consideration, it can be communicated by sending a signed letter to the Board. Please include sufficient details and background information so that the Board can understand the issue. The letter should be sent via US Mail to the Del Mar office addressed to the Del Mar Board of Directors.
If received at least ten days prior to a Board meeting and the issue does not require much research, the member will be invited to that Board meeting for further discussion. If not received in time, or the issue is complex, then the discussion will take place at the Board meeting a month later. A decision may or may not be made at the initial presentation, but the Board will, as a whole, draft a response without individual phone calls or emails.
NOTE: We have had issues with the dumping of yard waste at Alexander Beach. This is against Skagit County Code, section 12.16; signage citing this Code is now installed at various locations near the beach.
How to check for a water leak: Make sure you don't have any water running and then check your water meter to verify that it is not spinning. If it is spinning (even very slowly), then you have a leak. If you cannot locate your meter, please call the office for assistance at 360-299-2653.
If you want us to send someone out to look at the meter for you, please call the office to schedule. There will be a $30 charge for this service. State law prohibits us from repairing leaks on your side of the meter. If the leak is on your side of the meter, please call a plumber. Please note that each member is required to pay for all water leaked on their side of the meter.
